Laja pulp is known throughout the world as versatile pulp with consistent characteristics. It is used as a raw material in a range of products from printing and writing paper (coated or uncoated) to paperboards, tissue and other specialty products.
Pulp strength is one of the most important properties of Laja pulp with a very good balance of high tensile with good tear, burst and fold properties.
Laja pulp has a high "coarseness" and fiber length close to the market. Its attributes guarantee a very good performance comparable with dominating market pulps, boosted by its homogeneous quality given by a unique planted "species".
Tissue
Because of its consistent quality, Laja is particularly suited for combinations with other pulps in tissue production. When absorbency is targeted, like in kitchen towels and napkins, the share of BSKP (Bleached Softwood Kraft Pulp) needs to be clearly higher. Laja pulp has good absorption properties.
Board and Specialties
Laja pulp presents good strength, with a tensile index aligned to most long-fiber pulps. The same applies to the tear index. A good opacity/elasticity modulus ratio is desirable to avoid show-through and cracks/creases of folded cartons and boards; Laja pulp presents good performance in this ratio.
Printing & Writing
Laja pulp has allowed papermakers to consistently produce premium quality grades of printing and writing papers, with an acceptable performance in terms of the strength-tensile index versus the tear index.
