BioCMPC is making good progress! We are now approaching the end of month eight out of 26 months scheduled for the project. Our excellent record on health and safety and environmental protection continues: After 650,000 hours of labour, we have had no accidents, no lost time, and no complaints from the local community. This month we reached an important milestone: Electro-mechanical installation work has begun under excellent conditions in civil engineering terms. This milestone reflects our great progress to date. Now it’s onwards and upwards! Did you know? The BioCMPC project will increase capacity of Guaiba Mill’s second production line (G2) to 350,000 tons per year. It will also become one of the most competitive pulp lines of its kind in the world. In addition, the project includes investment of more than US$40 million in environmental protection measures, including the elimination of C0 2 emissions which will also directly benefit the local community. Furthermore, G2’s pulp line will have the lowest specific water consumption of any pulp line in the world. It is also worth noting that the project is committed to using as much local labour as possible, including awarding contracts for building and installation to companies within the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
