Fieldworks are expected to begin in September and will take 26 months, with startup expected for the fourth quarter of 2023. CMPC does not forecast any production shortages during construction works, except for a larger scheduled downtime period before the startup, which will not affect the company’s production figures. The project also contemplates a sustainability pilar that will translate into a reduction in the use of water during the industrial process, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, as well as effluents, noise, and eventual odors. "We have called this project BioCMPC because, beyond increasing production capacity, what we seek is to do it in a sustainable way and setting a new standard both in the execution and in its subsequent operation", said CMPC CEO, Francisco Ruiz-Tagle.
