CMPC innovates by operating truck with unique technology in Brazil

16 Oct 2024

Developed especially for CMPC, the detachable super bitrem truck offers an increase in performance, reducing the flow of vehicles on the roads and the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere.

As a result of a partnership with JSL, the vehicle has 9 axles with technology that allows one trailer to be stacked on top of another, serving as an alternative to the tritrem model, which has two trailers but is only authorized to operate during the day. The new model offers improved turning performance and a 35% greater load capacity compared to traditional operations, enabling the vehicle to make more trips in the same amount of time. Additionally, it allows for measuring and reducing CO2 emissions per cubic meter, helping to make our ground operations increasingly sustainable.
Commenting on the expectation to expand the fleet of super bitrens to include between 20 and 30 trucks operating in different regions of Rio Grande do Sul over the next 12 months, Antonio Lacerda, General Director of the Guaíba Unit, explained that as a company, we are always attentive to innovations that can be implemented to generate real improvements not only for our operations but also for the environment.

“In this sense, it is very gratifying to be implementing a unique technology in Brazil that ensures logistical gains and reduces CO2 emissions in the atmosphere,” states Antonio Lacerda, General Director of Cellulose at CMPC in Brazil.

It is important to highlight that the detachable truck also features significant safety devices, suchas systems that ensure the correct and safe movement of the vehicle and inform the driver about various potential dangers on the road. It also includes a system of internal and external cameras for monitoring trips, automated wheel locks, and spraying systems to minimize dust in the community.
